10 Car Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Car in Top Condition

1. Go steady in the break in period of a new car. Keep your speed under or up to the one recommended by your car manufacturer.

3. Do not race the engine during start up. This can add years of wear and tear to your engine, especially in low temperatures. Visit your car mechanic for engine service regularly.
4. When you begin driving, accelerate slowly. Keep in mind that the most wear to the engine occurs in the first ten to twenty minutes of the drive.
5. Avoid keeping your car in idle mode. This causes additional wear and tear to the engine as it doesn’t operate in optimal temperature. Not to mention that it saves you money on fuel.
6. Driving quickly and accelerating abruptly put unneeded strain on your engine, especially if the temperatures are very hot or very cold. Driving steadily will keep you away from car repairs more than you think.

8. If you happen to see a gasoline tanker at your local gas station, skip filling gas that day or go to another gas station. The reason? When the tanks are being filled this can stir up the sediment, and you do not what sediment in your engine as it can clog the fuel injectors and filters.
9. Keep a log in your vehicle. Use it to record gas fillings and mileage. If you notice that the millage is getting worse there might be something wrong with your car, and you should let your car mechanic know.
10. Choose a good car service shop. No matter how careful you are, you still need an expert to look under the hood every once in a while, and you need to make sure when your car does need repairs they are done with care and expertise.
